A BURST OF SUMMER BRIGHTS RIGHT HERE READY FOR YOU

THESE JEWEL TONES will elevate and bring joy to your outfit in an instant. This Edit has been inspired from my garden that I’ve been enjoying over the last few months. My one wish when I got this garden (N.B Bought a garden with a house attached, in that order) over 10 years ago was that I wanted to be able to make a posy of flowers, or several as the Seasons progressed.

It’s something I’ve done since childhood and maybe is where my love of colour, detail and texture stemmed from. I may be older but the simple utter joy of going out with my secateurs is undiminished. If you Follow me on instagram @anjakearton you’ll often find the latest posy or garden offering on stories. The garden may be a long way off from fruition but it’s been made with love, plants from friends and family, the sale table at the garden centre more often than the full price plants along with fair bit of patience.

There’s a great synergy between the development of my garden and my business. Firstly it’s building something from scratch that didn’t exist before, designing and being resourceful with the materials I’ve used. Many of my plants come with history as they’ve been given to me from people who want to help me expand my passion for making a beautiful space outside. Like the vintage jewellery and reloved trims/textiles I use in my designs they often have multiple layers of stories. Take the pink fuchsia wool headband, is the fabric I used in my final collection of Fashion & Textile degree. The beads, buttons, gems come from a lifetime of working in textiles and embroidery design. Jewellery components from years working in Commercial Fashion Jewellery design along with sourcing vintage jewellery while out and about or online from UK independent businesses.

Where possible I try to keep to local suppliers as much as possible.Costume jewellery has been a lifelong obsession too so it’s wonderful I can put it altogether in these headbands. Just like with the odd full price plant there are a smattering of new components in the mix too.

In a world of mass consumption my aim is to create beautiful unique hair accessories from vintage, new and reloved materials that will delight. There’s no need to settle for the mundane when you can choose a one of a kind piece. As they are made with vintage elements they can’t be repeated.
